PACE vows to strengthen communication education programs

The newly elected officers of the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE) mapped out their core programs for the term during a strategic planning workshop held from January 8 to 10, 2026. Leaders of the 50‑year‑old professional organization reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing upskilling initiatives for teachers in response to the evolving communication and media landscape.

Priority areas for 2025–2027

Advisory on curriculum evaluation and enhancement

Focus on practical, contextualized, and localized teaching strategies and instructional resources, including teaching modules, assessment tools and activities, and curated open-access materials 

Specialized teacher training, strengthened through collaboration with academic and industry partners and based on a training needs assessment

    • Short-term company immersion

    • Needs-based remote and in‑person workshops

Conversation platforms on research, including the International Communication Association’s Regional Hub (June 5 to 6, 2026) and the Communication and Media Studies Conference (2027)

Student learning experiences

    • Mentoring with industry experts through PACE of the Future

    • Pinoy Media Congress (April 2026) in partnership with with ABS-CBN

Enhanced PACE membership engagement through regional coordinators and digitalization of services 

PACE’s priorities foster closer collaboration with industry partners, better learning opportunities, and more responsive teaching resources. Reginald Gonzales, PACE president, noted: “ A key strategy to carry out the plans is industry support, as we recognize the importance of resource sharing. We also need to catch up with the fast-evolving communication landscape and the industry partnership is one way to enhance curriculum planning.”
